This is Owen, a gorgeous Springer/setter mix. He came into rescue after he ate some children's toys and socks and required surgery to remove them from his stomach.
His family could no longer keep him after that, so they asked ESRA to find him a safe and suitable Forever Home.

In addition to being simply beautiful, Owen has a wonderful, joyful personality. He loves all people, and he gets along great with other dogs.
We have no information about his behavior with cats. Owen loves to go places, and he rides well in the back seat of a car.
He also delights in playing with the other dogs in his foster home, and he loves hard toys and balls.
He is housetrained and uses a doggie door. Owen knows several commands--he can Sit, Lie Down, Shake, and Speak.
He is good on a leash. He eats well and does not guard his food.

Due to his history, Owen needs to live in a family of just adults.
There should be no children's toys or other small objects accessible in the household for him to eat.
He needs the company of another dog or two as well as humans who are active with their dog.
Owen loves to run or walk with his people, and regular exercise is important for him, as he is a high-energy boy.
He is not crate trained.

Owen will be a wonderful addition to the right family, one who will give him the appropriate environment in which to thrive along with the consistency and attention he needs and deserves.
If you think that Owen sounds like a good match for you, please contact his foster mom at the e-mail address below.
Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Owen.

"Jake is a really sweet and affectionate 7-year-old Setter who loves attention and would make a great family dog. He's used to living with small children and cats and gets along very well with all of them. He still has lots of outside-energy but knows how to tone it down while inside. He would consider himself a lap-dog and curls up surprisingly small when allowed on the couch (or your lap). He was trained as a bird-dog before we had him so he might be a good fit for a hunter, but wouldn't be the best fit for someone with a backyard chicken coop. All-in-all, Jake is a really good boy and we are sad to have to find him a new home

8 yr. Old female, spayed. Her name is Roxie. She is a bench setter, taught to hunt, but those days are over. We must find her a home, there's still a lot of love for her to give. She is leash trained and knows "sit" "stay" "down (lay down)" and "shake" She likes other dogs, cats and people...gentle kids too. Very gentle personality. She stays outside, but would be easily trained for the inside. Thank You.
